In 2008, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) commenced in Australian schools. Each year, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are assessed on the same days using national tests in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy.
William Carey Christian School encourages all students to sit for this external exam. This program is an important tool, as it allows the school and parents/carers to see areas of strength and weakness in each student when results are sent to the school later in the year. Teachers of each student in these grades can see their progress and know where to focus future teaching time on an individual basis.
