Safety and Security

The school employs a full time qualified security guard who lives onsite, which allows random patrols of the school grounds to take place outside school hours. Our security guard is on the premises for all evening events and is responsible for ensuring that the front gate (the main access point to the school) is locked after hours. Our security guard also supervises this entry point during recess and lunch to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

William Carey Christian School values the safety of students, families and staff. As such, all visitors to the school site are required to sign in at the Front Office. This allows the school administrators to care for our students, as well as any visitors, who may otherwise go unaccounted for in an emergency.  Staff and students are regularly taken through both evacuation and lockdown procedures. Signs explaining what to do in the event of an evacuation or lockdown are found in every room on site.

Year 11 and 12 students who have obtained their P plates and wish to drive to school are permitted to do so. The security guard coordinates with these students to ensure that they understand the rules of the car park. Students are not allowed to access their cars during the school day without the supervision of the security guard – this is to ensure both personal and vehicular safety.

All of the security procedures undertaken at William Carey Christian School either meet or exceed the standards of relevant WH&S requirements.
