To ensure that all of our staff and students are safe in the event of an emergency, William Carey has ensured that there are comprehensive emergency procedures in place.
In the event of a fire or gas leak, staff and students would be required to evacuate all buildings. All staff members have been trained in evacuation procedures. To ensure that these procedures are understood by all, we run regular evacuation drills with all staff and students.
In the event of an emergency that requires staff and students to go indoors, we would initiate a lockdown at the school. Possible reasons for a lockdown include: inclement weather, catastrophic fire alerts, an intruder on site or a medical emergency at the school. Lockdown drills are run regularly with the staff and students to ensure that they know the procedure when a lockdown is called.
If an emergency did occur, all visitors to site (parents, contractors, volunteers etc.) would be given clear instructions by a member of staff as to where they should go.
