William Carey’s BYOD for Learning Program starts in 2018 for years 5, 7 and 11. By 2020 all students from Years 5 to 12 will be required to bring a digital device to school for learning in the classroom.
Click here for the BYOD for Learning booklet which provides a background to the Program, recommends device types, answers frequently asked questions and provides tips for healthy and safe use of ICT. (http://www.wccs.nsw.edu.au/?page_id=5445)
For students to be able to use their devices day one at school, the student will require to take some actions at home before bringing the device to school.
The student’s device will need to be registered so it can access the network. This is called on-boarding your device. This step must be done at home from an existing internet connection. Students require their school username and password to complete this process.
Please see the following link for some video instructions from Mr Hall/Mr Snelson on how to join the new wireless network.
Note: If your device was connected to the school’s network in 2017 you may need forget/delete the old “WCCS BYOD” and “WCCS Guest” wireless networks from your device. If you’re not sure how to do this, ask a friend or follow instructions below.
If you have any questions on the integration of BYOD please email the school at firstname.lastname@example.org
