Exciting opportunities in the Defence Force!

Careers

Representatives from the Defence Force Recruitment came to William Carey to speak with senior students about possible careers options with Defence.  This presentation was extra special for our Year 11 and 12 students, as when they were in Kindergarten, Corporal James Allchin, completed Year 12 at William Carey Christian School. It was fantastic to see one of our ex-students return to the school and share his journey. James focused on the area of humanitarian aid and disaster relief, something which has seen him travel the world, offering care and hospitality to those in need.

Leading Seaman Chris Waldron is a navy chef. He was able to share his journey and all the dignitaries he has cooked for. Students were given opportunity to ask questions and discover the 350+ careers that are available across the defence force.

Discovering the Future at University

The careers department took all Year 12 students to Wollongong University on Monday 15th February for Discovery Day.  Discovery day gives Year 12 students the opportunity to experience firsthand what a day at university is like.

Throughout the day, students attended lectures and tutorials from a variety of topics ranging from law to philosophy.

Students also enjoyed meeting up for lunch and sharing their experiences.
