A highlight each year in our High School Educational Support Unit is the Café Program. Every student eagerly awaits for the opening day.
This year, during Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 2, the ESU students catered for seventy-four guests over six days of trading!
The students ran the café in F10, where they prepared and served both morning tea and lunch for twelve staff members each day. On the final day, parents of the students were also invited. Students were involved in all aspects of the café, including calculating quantities, purchasing and preparing food, setting tables, decorating the room, greeting guests, receiving payments, serving and cleaning up. The students also worked together to design confirmation of booking flyers and post these in staff pigeon holes.
The menu this year was a Devonshire Tea for morning tea and, for lunch, roast vegetable or bacon quiche served with a Greek salad and bun. Dessert was an apple crumble with custard and ice cream. Staff who attended reported that the food was delicious! One guest’s comment was, “This was the very best meal I’ve had since last year’s café!”
