SCHOOL MUSICAL

WCCS have a rich heritage of musicals already. The school aims to perform a major production every second year. This is a very busy but hugely rewarding experience for all concerned.
It is an event that combines all the talents in the school from kindergarten to year 11. From back stage to lead roles there are opportunities to see students (and teachers) in a new light.
It is recognised as a community building event for the whole school - sound, lighting, prop building, acting, singing, make-up, "front of house" roles, dancing and costume making - there is no limit to the roles you can play.
Parents and carers also work together to create an atmosphere not easily forgotten by those that help or those that pay to see the final product.
We started small with Cool in the Furnace (1991) but our musicals were taken to a new level when "Smike" hit town, complete with circus tent in 1994. That "set the stage" for the following productions:
The Wizard of Oz (1996), Oliver (1998), Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat (2001), South Pacific (2003), The Pirates of Penzance (2005), Honk (2007) and our most recent production: Beauty & The Beast (2009).
