Grandparent’s Day, 2017

Next Friday, P-6 will be hosting our annual Grandparent’s Day in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair.  This is an exciting event that we invite you attend.  There will be many activities including:

  • Open classrooms from 9:15 am – 10:00 am
  • Book character parade for Prep to Year 3 students 10:00 am to  10:15 am
  • Writers’ Festival in the Hall to view during morning tea
  • Grandparent and child Morning Tea from 10:20 am – entry via pre-purchased tickets only
  • Photo Booth in the Library classroom near the hall (D1)
  • Scholastics Book Fair, open in the Library from 8:00 am.

Open classrooms are a time for you to view your grandchild’s or child’s class: see the things that the children are doing at school; sit in their chairs and be reminded about your exciting adventures at school; be prepared to get involved and participate in the activities that the teachers and students have prepared.  You may learn something new! Classrooms will be open from 9:15 until 10:00 am.

The book character parade is a special time for our Prep to Year 3 students to dress up as their favourite book character.  Year 4 to 6 students and our special guests will be the audience as the children parade as their favourite book character.  Keep a look out for the teachers who may also come dressed up as their favourite book character.

The children have been drafting and editing some exciting pieces of writing for the Writers’ Festival.  These have been laminated and will be on display in the Hall, for viewing during morning tea.

Grandparents are invited to attend a special morning tea in the hall.  Tickets for the Grandparent Morning Tea must be pre purchased at the Uniform Shop.  The cost is $4 per person.  Your grandchildren will join you for a muffin and a piece of slice.  Tea and coffee will be available for the adults and a juice popper for the children.  Spaces are filling quickly, so purchase your tickets today.

The school Library will also be full of activity as it hosts the Scholastic Book Fair.  Grandparents and parents are invited to view the fair and purchase books on the day.  While you wait for your session of morning tea, you may also have your photo taken with your grandchild as a way of remembering this special day.  A gold coin payment at the photo booth will ensure a photo that you can cherish for years to come.

Please join us for this special Grandparent’s Day event on Friday, 20th October.
