Welcome back to Term 3. As we look at the calendar items listed below, we can quickly see that it will be a demanding term for students and parents alike. As you can appreciate, with COVID-19, many events for this term will look different due to restrictions. We are having to be creative in the way that we deliver our events.
All the school activities, dates and times can be found on Edumate and the WCCS app. I would like to highlight some important activities that will be occurring this term.
Year 7, 8, 9 and 11 Parent/Teacher Nights
As we are not able to have parents onsite, we will be holding online Parent/Teacher interviews for students. These will be held via Microsoft Teams, the same technology we used to run online classes. The Parent/Teacher nights will be conducted in Weeks 3 and 4.
Subject Selection Evenings for Year 9 (2021) and Year 11 (2021)
Year 8 students have the opportunity to make individual subject choices by selecting their electives for 2021. Students will have information sessions at school run by teachers, but there will be no Subject Selection Evening. Parents and students will be provided with a comprehensive website containing videos with all of the subject information.
The Year 11 2021 Subject Selection evening occurred on Monday 3rd August and was conducted live online. The event was supported with a comprehensive website full of videos and information and teachers who were available for live chats. As part of the selection process, parents will meet later in the term with senior executive members of the school to guide and support this decision-making process and discuss their children’s performance at school. This is replacing the Year 10 Parent/Teacher interviews.
Year 12 Students
The Year 12 CAPA HSC Showcase is a time for students to display and perform their HSC major works. This is running in the afternoon of Tuesday 11th August, with only Year 12 students in attendance. The Showcase will be filmed and shared with families.
Trial examinations will be running in Weeks 4 and 5. Please pray for our students as they prepare for their examinations.
High School Photo Day
Friday 4th September will be High School Photo day and Year 12 sibling/family photos. The rest of High School family photos will be taken with Primary photo day in Term 4.
All students should be attending school unless they are currently unwell. If they are at home because they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition, the parent needs to contact the Deputy Principal. If a student is absent for more than three days without a medical certificate, this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and followed up by the school. Please send in all doctor’s certificates.
As of last week, we have been informed that all CSSA events for the rest of the year have been cancelled.
Just a reminder that students in Years 7-10 may wear their sports uniform to school when they have timetabled PE lessons. Students are reminded to pack their leather shoes for practical lessons.
