News from the Library

Borrowing: Primary students need a library bag to borrow books. Parents may borrow an additional six books per child (when admitted back onsite). High School students need to have their WCCS ID cards with them to borrow. All loans are for two weeks.

Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC): The 2021 PRC will commence in Library lessons this week. Last year all of K-6 completed the PRC! Special congratulations to Arend Chandra, Natalie Huffadine, Caleb Huynh, Christie McGrath, Tara Menteith, Anthony Roth and Emma Wright who received the PRC Medallion for completing the PRC for all nine years.

Literacy Pro: Students in Years 3-6 can access Lexile quizzes at home by visiting the Literacy Pro website (through the Library blog on the WCCS portal). Students will need their Literacy Pro username and password, given out during Library lessons.

Senior Study Centre: The Study Centre runs after school in the Library from Monday to Thursday between 3:10 pm and 5:00 pm for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. We have tutors (who excelled in the HSC) who can assist with assignments, essays and homework needs. Email Miss Leech for more details or speak to her in the Library.

Years 7 – 9 Homework Club: Homework Club will run for students in Years 7 – 9 in the Library from Monday to Thursday between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Note: numbers will be capped at 30 students. More information about Homework Club will be shared via the Edumate app in the coming week.

The BYOD Helpdesk is available every Wednesday lunch in the Library for students needing BYOD help or assistance downloading textbooks to their devices, as well as any other ICT help.

Online access to the Oliver Library Catalogue is available through the WCCS Portal using a student ID and password. For a PDF of a textbook, search for “etextbook” and choose textbook/s to download.

Passwords to access WorldBook online and the ANZ Reference Centre, which includes newspapers and journal articles, are available from the library. Email Miss Leech or drop in to find out more.
