PRESS RELEASES - We dig National Tree Planting Day
|
Message posted - Wednesday, August 12, 2009
As part of the 25th anniversary of the school and in support of National Tree Planting Day, the school initiated a program of tree planting during week two of term 3. This was a proactive step in encouraging an environmental awareness in the school, as well as encouraging the school community to value, and protect, the physical surrounds of the property.
The preservation of the Cumberland forest area, in which the school is located, has been a significant issue in building proposals the school has developed over recent years. Replanting the area behind W block is an area of the school that needed to be attended to, and this was planted out during this week.
All students and teachers from Kindergarten to Year 6 were given the opportunity to plant a tree under the guidance and watchful eyes of our school gardens, Mrs Susie Johnston and Mr Ben Wilkie. High school students had previously had the opportunity to do their bit to protect the remnants of the Cumberland forest.
