PRESS RELEASES - Year 6 Girls Make A Difference!
Message posted - Monday, November 02, 2009

Three William Carey Year 6 students are proof that little things we do can make a big difference.

Zoe P, Bhavika K and Alexandra G gave up their lunch time, every day during Term 2 to run a second hand stall in the non-fiction library.

Mrs Smith approached the girls early in Term 2 to see if they would be interested in running the stall to raise money to buy a Rugby Wheelchair for Simon Bartlett.

The girls responded with enthusiasm and quickly made the store a success by not only running the stall, deciding on the pricing of items and ‘banking’ the takings at the Uniform shop but also taking the time to drum up business in the playground and the introduction a ‘no-deposit layby’ system.

These future entrepreneurs raised a grand total of $480.00 by selling items priced at .20c, .50c and $1.00.

The cost of a Rugby Wheelchair is approximately $2,500.00.

Well done girls for your fantastic efforts.
