From Mr Burgess

Staffing, Classing, etc.

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, significant work is currently going into preparing classes for 2020.  Staff changes are also being finalised, and I have a few announcements to make regarding this:

Mrs Anna Watts is retiring at the end of the year.  Mrs Watts’ involvement with William Carey predates the current school site!  During her time with us, Mrs Watts has been a casual teacher, full time teacher on a number of grades and, most recently, she has run the P-2 ALC department.  She has routinely reshaped the department and its programs to match the needs of the students under her care.  Mrs Watts’ contribution to the school has been substantial, not least her input to many of the big events such Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.

Mrs Liz du Plooy is also retiring, after working with us since 1999.  Mrs du Plooy has also undertaken a wide variety of roles in her time at William Carey, teaching across a number of grades.  Most recently, Mrs du Plooy has been teaching part time.  Of particular note are the immense skills that Mrs du Plooy brought to working with children struggling with school.  Her skills are going to be missed.

Mrs Ruth Cooper has been with us since late 2006, and again has undertaken a variety of roles at William Carey.  Mrs Cooper is one of those rare teachers who can turn her hand to any grade, and indeed this was something we have relied upon in her time with us.  Mrs Cooper leaves to take up a full-time position closer to home.

Our prayers go with each of these teachers as they move into new situations.

Early Arrivals

I realise we are near the end of the year, but perhaps this message will help families as they get organised for 2020.  School supervision commences at 8:00 am each day.  Students should not be dropped off at school prior to this time, unless arrangements have been made with the Primary Office.  If your Primary child needs to be dropped at school before 8:00 am, you need to enrol in Before School Care at OOSH.

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  Galatians 2:20

In His service,
