How amazing was Book Week this year? I was concerned that all of the COVID restrictions would mean a more subdued experience, but this was certainly not the case. I would like to thank our dedicated Library staff for all of the work they did behind the scenes to make the week the success that it was. I would also like to thank all of the families for really going all out for the book parade last Friday. It was one of the most impressive I have seen! Lots of great costumes, including the teachers’, and lots of enthusiasm from everyone, made for a very enjoyable day.
Be sure to look for both the Book Parade and Grandparent’s Day videos, which are available via the WCCS Facebook page.
Preparing for 2021
Alongside all of the usual school things we do in Term 4, there is also a focus on preparing for 2021. This involves staffing, classing, ordering, resourcing, etc. Over the remaining 2020 newsletters, I will keep families up to date with any changes impacting the school as we prepare for next year.
Classing for 2021 is a very carefully managed process. Teachers and executive staff work together to balance all of the factors that influence this decision, in order to create the best possible class arrangements. This includes engaging children appropriately in this process. If you have information or ideas that would help this process with regards to your child/ren, please contact Mrs Shaw (Years K-2) or Mrs Post (Years 3-6).
Drop Off and Pick Up Time
The school recognises that transport arrangements are still being impacted by COVID. However, we remind parents of the following:
Drop Off. Primary morning assembly commences at 8:40 am, with relevant announcements for students. It is important that all students are present for this. Arriving late not only means that the student misses important work at the start of the day, but they also interrupt the running of the class as they enter the room. Please ensure your children are at school prior to 8:40 am each day.
Pick up. All students need to be picked up from school by 3:30 pm each day. The carpark has quietened down by around 3:20 pm, so there is plenty of space for people to park. If you are unable to collect your children by 3:30 pm on a regular basis, you will need to book them into after school care at OOSH.
Please note that parents are still not allowed into the body of the school, as per Government guidelines. As I type this, yet another school in our immediate area has been closed for COVID related reasons.
For car park drop off, you need to leave your child at the beginning of the centre road, for them to walk down to Primary. Staff are available to assist if needed. If you enter via the back gate, please come no further than that end of the centre road.
For car park pick up, please collect your children from the basketball courts, remembering social distancing. Children who leave via the back gate are walked to that area for pick up from there.
If it is wet weather car lines, please remain at the very front of the school and listen for announcements over the PA. Remember that it is compulsory for all adults to wear a mask for wet weather lines.
It was great to be able to play some games against other IPSSO schools last week. There are a few matches still to go. Just a reminder to parents of IPSSO team members; unfortunately, you are not allowed to come along to the matches as a spectator. This includes “accidentally” showing up early and watching from the carpark. COVID…
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
