Athletics/Sports Carnivals
We have had a few athletics events over the past week or so:
State Athletics – Congratulations to Eamonn D, Aaron K, Lachlan M, Marcus S and Akira T who represented South Met Zone, and William Carey, at the recent State Athletics Carnival.  All of the boys did well and can be proud of their achievements.  Eamonn and Lachlan will continue on to CIS next week.
Prep – 2 Sports Carnival – Watching some of the events at the Prep – 2 Carnival gives me great hope for the future of athletics at William Carey!  There were many great competitors, putting their heart and soul into the events.  It was also great to see the lovely spirit of fair competition, with friends cheering on friends as they completed their events.  Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to make this a special event.

Is That the Time?
School starts with morning assembly at 8:40am each day.  It is important that students are here by then, so they can hear important announcements and be part of the school community, as we start the day together.  There are also a number of programs that start immediately after assembly, both in the classroom and in withdrawal groups.  It is essential that students arrive on time for these programs, so they are not missing vital learning.  Late arrivals can also disrupt the class, which has already settled into the day’s routines.  I would ask parents to make arriving on time a priority, as we work together in your child’s education.

Drought Relief Fundraiser
By now all families should have received a letter regarding the upcoming Prep to Year 12 drought relief fundraiser.  This is something the School is committed to, and we would love all of our families to be involved as well.  The mufti component of the day should be fun, but the bigger focus will be on how we can support those struggling in country towns, both financially and in prayer.  Parents can make donations at the Uniform Shop leading up to the day and children are encouraged to bring a donation in on the day, to be collected in the classroom.

Parent/Teacher Interviews
Our second semester Parent/Teacher Interviews are on next week.  All families should have received a letter inviting them to book a time online, or in certain circumstances, via Mrs Katzberg in the Primary Office.  If you have not received any information regarding the interviews, please contact us ASAP so we can rectify this situation.  We look forward to meeting with our school families.

National Science Week
The school was involved in some fun activities for National Science Week recently.  Click here to see an article about some of the great problem solving ideas our students came up with.
