Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been such a joy seeing all the students back at school. They have looked forward to connecting with their friends and staff, as well as getting back into the routines of school. Below are images and reflections for some of the Primary classes at William Carey.

Prep T

Prep C

Celebrating being back at Prep together!

Hazel and Alvina were happy to be back playing at Prep together.

Ben exploring our climbing tree at Prep.

Chloe, Rhianna, Divyank and Matthew were all so surprised at how much our flowers had grown while we were all away. We planted these seeds in Term 2 and now we have wildflowers blooming beautifully.

Piper has definitely missed easel painting.

KD are so excited to be back at school! Here are some of their thoughts.

Oswin: I am excited for school because I love school.

Charlotte R: I am feeling happy and I really like being back at school.

Naomi: It has been lovely and I have so much fun with my friends.

Charlotte N: I feel happy because I like Elena being back and I can play with her!

Elena: I’m great being back at school and I missed seeing Mrs Connellan.

Hannah B: I am happy because I get to be back at school.

In KH we have had fun playing and learning with our friends again.

We have enjoyed playing with trains, dolls and blocks.

We have had fun playing outside in the Kindy triangle and learning ball skills.

We have enjoyed listening to stories and learning together.

But most of all we have loved being back at school together.

4G have loved being back together in person as a class family. We chatted as a class and realised we missed the beautiful school grounds a lot during our time working at home. We decided it would be a fun idea to take our Daily 5 (reading lessons) on tour!

Each day, we go to a different location in the school to enjoy learning outside and making the most of the stunning school environment. We love to take picnic tables, camp chairs, cushions, and other items along with us to make sure we’re comfortable learning outdoors. We also made sure we went early to enjoy the calming morning sun when it isn’t too hot. So far, we’ve particularly enjoyed learning alongside the school chickens and getting comfortable on the oval. Some 4G students have commented that it feels like going on a camping trip!

It’s great to be back!

Students in Year 6 have been very busy this week preparing their Samaritan’s Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’ boxes. These are boxes that we have been preparing all year!

In these boxes are a range of fantastic items for children who are not blessed as financially as ourselves. These boxes are sent as Christmas presents to children in Cambodia, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, Malawi and Fiji.

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian organisation that takes its name from Jesus Christ’s story in the Bible of the Good Samaritan.

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them.

So these boxes are a way that we here, at WCCS, can help those in need. Perhaps you’d like to see what it looks like when children get their boxes? If so, then click here.

We have enjoyed being able to see our friends again. We are a little disappointed to not be able play cricket, but it’s still been great to be able to hang out with our friends.

Some of the tasks we’ve worked on first week back:

Class Artwork
As a class we wanted to create a class artwork that would represent us reuniting and achieving goals as a class group. We are currently creating a set of wings to represent the concept ‘together we soar’. We were encouraged by this verse as we designed our feathers.

Isaiah 40:31 – But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Buddy Books
