Playground (Tank Garden) Redesign

Currently, we are applying for a Federal grant to improve the Tank Garden, one of our Primary playground areas. Our Year 1 students have been submitting their design ideas. We are also very keen to hear ideas from parents.

Parents can get involved in a few ways:

*Joining Mrs Shaw in the Library at 8:00 am this coming Monday 16th September to contribute to the discussion.
*Contributing to a parent survey via this link
*Emailing Mrs Shaw via shawm@wccs.nsw.edu.au

We look forward to hearing from our parent community.

Progressive Reporting Feedback – Thank You

Our first batch of progressive assessment tasks were sent home over the past week or so.  Thank you to the parents who have given us feedback, either via the QR code, or face to face at interviews.  As the purpose of progressive reporting is to provide you with relevant and timely information, we need to know what you think!  So far the responses have been very positive and contain some helpful ideas for how we can fine tune the process.

Musical Time!

The musical has been and gone for another two years.  I went from knowing none of the songs at all, to being able to hum most of them by the end of the two weeks (in fact I’m humming “Status Quo” as I write this…).  What a GREAT show!  Congratulations to all of the staff and students involved.  You can be very proud of your hard work and also of the finished product.  I wonder what the next musical will be?

Father’s Day Breakfast

What a great time the Father’s Day Breakfast was.  We had around 300 grandparents, parents and children on the Primary Oval, enjoying a hot breakfast, an inspiring speech and then time to play with a new frisbee.  Thank you to the staff who worked in the lead-up, as well as those who were there very early on the morning to make it all happen.  See you at the next big event – Grandparent’s Day in Term 4.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to make it to our recent parent/teacher interview nights, and IP interviews.  These are such valuable times, as we work together to achieve the best for your children.  I recognise that it can sometimes be challenging to discuss certain issues, or to hear some difficult truths, so we do appreciate the partnership we have with you all.  Teachers take time and care to prepare well for the interviews, ensuring they have all of the necessary information at hand regarding your child.  It is difficult to do this well when a last-minute appointment is made, so I would request that parents note the dates that bookings are open, so this doesn’t happen.

8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:8-9

In His service,

Robert Burgess
