Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher interviews are on very soon.  By now, all families should have received a letter outlining how to book an interview.  If you have not received a letter, please contact the Primary Office ASAP, as interview bookings close on Sunday 19th March at 11:00 pm.  You can book your interviews via the PTO system. We look forward to catching up with you over the week.

Prep meet the teacher interviews have also been held recently.  These are a great opportunity for parents and teachers to get together, as we share the education of your children.

Upcoming Camps
We are entering camp season at William Carey.  In the next few weeks, our Year 6 camp will head off to Teen Ranch, followed by the first Year 5 camp to Hill End.  The second Year 5 camp and the Year 4 camp will both take place early in Term 2.  Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to come along – your support is greatly appreciated.

Photo Day
School Photo day is on Friday, 24th March.  On this day, all students K-6 will have a class photo taken, as well as an individual photo.  Parents can choose which of these to order, using the envelope sent home.  Ordering can take place online or via the envelope.  Sibling photos for K-12 students with surnames beginning A-K will also take place on this day.  This is optional, and a separate envelope is required (available from the Primary Office).  Note that this will not involve Prep families.  If you have a child in Prep, and desire a sibling photo, they will be taken on the Prep photo days in May.  Sibling Photos L-Z will be taken on the High School photo day.

Maths and English Competitions
If you would like to enter your child in either the University of NSW ICAS Maths or English Competition (also known as ICAS), please visit this page and register your interest.  The competitions are for students in Years 3 to 6. The competition dates for 2017 are:

  • English – Tuesday, 1st August
  • Maths – Tuesday, 15th August

I encourage you to consider this carefully, as the competitions are extremely challenging, and similar information is gained already from the compulsory NAPLAN (Basic Skills) testing.  Students who are in the top groups for these subjects are automatically entered.  Entries close on Monday, 20th March.

Our Caring Community
It has been very encouraging to witness numerous acts of kindness by our students recently.  Where other children have been injured or upset, students have stepped in and sought to help them, or to bring them to staff for assistance.  They have then stayed with the injured/upset child, ensuring they are cared for as staff tend to their needs.

For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!  Romans 8:38-39
