Parent Information Evening 2021
Thank you to the families who participated in last week’s Parent Information Evening. For those who were not able to attend, the recorded sessions can be found in the grade pages on the Primary Information Website. Families have communicated that it was well received and they appreciated the opportunity to meet their child’s classroom teacher and understand how their child’s class functions.
Over to past two weeks, I have enjoyed going into classrooms and sharing more about who I am. The students have made me feel incredibly welcome, and I already feel like a William Carey family member! Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself if you see me before or after school in the carpark and carlines.
Students that arrive after 8:55 am, need to be taken to the front office by a parent to be signed in late. Please note: this is a change to last year where students signed in at the Primary Office.
A kind reminder to parents to please label all your child’s belongings. Lost property is sorted regularly and will be returned to your child’s class if labelled.
William Carey Community Attributes
During our Staff Professional Development Week, we explored the William Carey Christian School Community Attributes. These are as below:
*be a learner
*be a team member
*be a leader and a helper
*be wise and brave
Each of these attributes reflects the characteristics of Jesus. Paul, the author of Ephesians, encourages us to live our lives and strive to do what Christ would do, Ephesians 5:1.
Our intention in the Primary School is to use these attributes and expand on them during our morning assemblies and class time. At morning assemblies, staff share their own and other people’s experiences; as well as the stories found in the Bible and how they used the various attributes while facing situations. In our classroom, the students reflect on and ask questions based on what they have heard. They are encouraged to share their own experiences, view videos and pray for guidance and wisdom in displaying them.
As you are aware, our School Award system is based on the WCCS Community Attributes. Bronze, Silver and Gold awards all play a part in recognising and celebrating each student’s achievements. Students receive awards when they display our attributes, not only when working on their own, but also when learning and socialising with others.
