Welcome Back to 2021 Events!
Who can remember back to this time last year? Life at school did not look as it does this year. Week 8 was our first week in lockdown, and COVID became our reality. Very few students came to school! Learning and church life happened online; businesses were closed, international and domestic travel stopped, shops and roads were deserted. Life, in general, needed to continue, but it did not look, sound, or feel the same. We were now living in an unknown world, and our leaders were doing their best to direct us through these challenging times.
Throughout 2020, COVID restrictions became the number one story of the day, and they regularly changed. One day parents could come to school, and the next, they could not. Parents and teachers both become exceptional users of Zoom and Google Teams.
Our ongoing prayers needed God’s wisdom and guidance during this time. The staff at William Carey believe that God holds all the knowledge and protects us from trouble. ‘You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.’ Psalm 32:7
Twelve months on, many things have changed. COVID still exists, but the way we manage it is vastly different one year later. Throughout New South Wales, we are incredibly excited that parents are invited back to be a part of their children’s learning. We are planning assemblies and other activities where parents will play a considerable role in celebrating student achievements. If you are available, please come along to these events, keeping COVID Safety restrictions in mind. We cannot wait to see you there!
Year 6 Camp to Canberra
During Week 6, our Year 6 students had an amazing time exploring the sights of Australia’s Capital Territory. Canberra was their home for two nights, where they had a wonderful time with their friends and teachers. Some of the visited places included the National Electoral Education Centre, Mount Stromolo Observatory, The War Memorial, The National Museum of Australia, and Parliament House. Many opportunities were available to learn from their guides and to ask many relevant questions.
A huge thanks to all the staff who attended and to Mr Burns for his outstanding organisation. All had a wonderful time!!!
