Well there you have it – Term 1 is almost over. It really only seems like a few weeks but there has been a lot going on. I’m sure children and teachers alike will enjoy the upcoming break.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to the recent parent/teacher interviews. This is an important part of the school calendar, as we work together to educate your children. Both nights had a great “vibe” to them, with lots of positive and constructive conversations taking place. Thank you also to the parents who take the time to attend IP interviews. While these do take time, they are extremely important in setting goals and measuring progress with your children.
Last newsletter contained a link to information regarding the upcoming NAPLAN assessments. It is also in this newsletter, for those who missed it last time. Please read through this information, as there are some minor changes since last year, especially for years 7 and 9. If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please talk to your child’s teacher or make an appointment to see me. You may also like to read Mr Nightingale’s article on this subject. Our motto at William Carey regarding NAPLAN (with apologies to ex-Prime Minister Howard) is, “Be alert but not alarmed!” In other words, we want the children familiar with what NAPLAN requires but not stressed about doing it.
Last Day of Term 1
Please note that our term for Years K to 6 ends with a mufti day on Thursday and a formal assembly on Friday morning, at which children wear full school uniform.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
Our annual Mother’s Day celebration is coming up in early Term 2. Please click here for more information. We look forward to seeing mothers and grandmothers at this great event.
As the parents of 1E already know, Mrs Smith will be leaving us very early next term as she awaits the birth of her first child. Please join me in praying for Mr and Mrs Smith during this exciting time. Interviews for Mrs Smith’s replacement are underway, and we will make an announcement regarding this very soon.
