Primary Performance Times

The musical is here!  Having watched parts of the final rehearsal, I can confidently say you are in for an absolute treat when you come.  I am very proud of the Primary students involved, both in the main cast and the primary chorus.  Definitely some budding performers in our midst.  Just in case you need a reminder, these are the dates for the grade overture performances:

  • Friday August 25th Year 4
  • Saturday August 26th Kindergarten, Prep T1 and Prep L (Matinee)
  • Saturday August 26th Year 2 and Year 3  (Evening)
  • Friday September 1st Year 5
  • Saturday September 2nd Year 1, Prep T2 and Prep W (Matinee)
  • Saturday September 2nd Year 6 (Evening)

Word Mania Success

Word Mania is over for another year and our students have performed remarkably well.  Our amazing Year 3 students finished 7th nationally and 1st in NSW.  A brilliant effort!  There will be a separate article in the next newsletter regarding Year 3’s involvement.  If you would like to see where each grade finished the competition, please go to:  www.wordmania.com/au

Parent/Teacher Interviews

A reminder that our term 3 parent/teacher interviews will be held during week 7 of this term.  Our year 3-6 interviews will take place on Tuesday 5th September, with K-2 on Wednesday 6th September.  NOTE: KC interviews will be held earlier, on Wednesday 30th August.  As usual, bookings will be made online through the PTO webpage.  Detailed information will be coming home early next week.

Look Out for the Prep Kids

Over the next few weeks, our Prep students will start to make trips to the main school, in order to prepare for “big school” in 2018.  They will explore various play areas, as well as share in lessons and activities in Kindergarten classrooms.  This is a great opportunity for them to become familiar with the wider school and certainly leads to much more confident Kindergarten students when they arrive next year.

WCCS Road Tests NAPLAN Online

NAPLAN Online trials are coming.  As mentioned previously, all schools in NSW have been asked to trial the NAPLAN online test interface.  Our year 3 and 5 students (along with year 7 and 9) will be completing this from 11/9 to 15/9.  As we are simply “testing the test” there will be no results either collected or distributed.  Children will not be required to prepare in any way.  We will ask students to bring in headphones, if they have them, as these are required for the tests.  The school will have a limited supply for students who don’t have their own.  Should you or your child have feedback for you regarding the test process, please let me know and we will pass it onto the test organisers.
