Facilities

William Carey Christian School is home to many exceptional educational facilities. The whole school is situated on one large site, which allows students from Prep through to Year 12 to access the different facilities that help provide a quality education. We are extremely fortunate to have wonderful grounds and buildings where our students can learn and play.

Specialised Classrooms

Throughout the school there are various specialised classrooms that allow students to interact with the subject matter being taught more effectively than may be possible in a conventional classroom. These rooms include:

  • Science laboratories
  • A dance studio
  • A drama studio
  • Art rooms
  • Computer rooms
  • Kitchens
  • Woodwork rooms
  • Metalwork rooms
  • Textiles rooms
  • Trade Training Centre

Auditorium

The WCCS auditorium has been home to many events over the years – from extravagant musicals to annual awards assemblies and displays of gymnastic prowess. The building is fully air-conditioned and includes both a foyer and mezzanine level.

Canteen

William Carey has a healthy canteen that is available for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. The canteen managers endeavour to minimise the additives and preservatives used in many of the products that are available; and the serving sizes reflect the recommendations for healthy eating portions. The WCCS canteen also has many gluten-free options. Canteen orders are placed using the Munch Monitor system.

Library

Our Library staff provide a learning environment that facilitates the development of information skills and a love of literature and reading. The Library is an open plan interactive learning centre and is open daily from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm (5:00 pm for senior students who use our free tutoring service). It houses over 50,000 books and resources including a specialist Biblical Studies collection, two computer labs and four teaching rooms, including a mezzanine reading lounge.

Many exciting programs such as Author Breakfasts, Premier’s Reading Challenge and Book Week help to stimulate and maintain students’ love of reading. The Library is also home to the Senior Study Centre and the Hairy McCarey Story Time for pre-schoolers.

Sporting

The school has several large playing fields that allow students the space to participate in a variety of ball sports. As well as these, there are also tennis, volleyball, netball and basketball courts and cricket nets on the site. All students are able to access the different sporting facilities as part of the PDHPE and Sport programs.

Uniform Shop

The wearing of full school uniform is compulsory when at school, as well as when travelling to and from school. The complete uniform is only available for purchase from the on site Uniform Shop. The school has endeavoured to purchase quality uniform items at a reasonable price and also stocks items such as library bags, TAS aprons, paint smocks, leather school shoes, scarves, textbook covers, Bibles and calculators. Names can be embroidered onto jackets upon request.

The WCCS uniform was chosen in consultation with parents and staff, and is approved by the school Board. The school expects a high standard of personal appearance from all students when attending school, when travelling to and from school, and when participating in school-organised events.

The Uniform Shop is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm during school terms and extended hours before the start of school in Term 1.
