Prep School

At William Carey, our youngest students are intentionally nurtured as they learn to be ambassadors, believers, communicators, designers and explorers. All of this takes place in an exciting and stimulating school environment. Our Prep building was purpose-built to encourage creative play and structured learning, with a large interactive playground and the latest technology. Our Prep students are an integral part of the WCCS community and, throughout the year, they participate in many activities with other students.

Our custom Prep curriculum reflects the belief that children learn best when they are active participants in their education and that each child comes with a unique wealth of experiences, knowledge and understandings of the world. Our curriculum follows the Australian Curriculum for NSW (Foundation and Early Stage One). Additionally, Prep School structured Literacy sessions are based on the PreLit Program that was developed by Macquarie University.

Prep students have opportunities to engage in a rich, thought-provoking environment that is designed to strengthen and extend:

  • Early literacy and numeracy skills
  • Positive relationships
  • Problem solving and inquiry based learning
  • Technology skills.

Our Prep School operates on the same term dates as the rest of the school and runs from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm each day for children in the year before Kindergarten.
