SLC News

What a crazy ride this term has been so far! For the past couple of weeks we have had a wide range of camps, with Year 11 at camp in week 2 and years 7-10 at camp in weeks 6 and 7. The year advisors and teachers have done an amazing job at organising a memorable experience for our students! These camps offer a variety of activities including a giant swing, rock climbing, and various other games that can be enjoyed by the students. We hope they had a fantastic time!

Along with this, the SLC have had the opportunity to chat with and present to their grade, building relationships that can extend past camp and into school life. These relationships give the SLC a platform to share and someone the students can go to if they want to chat. Year 11 camp presented Ricky and I the opportunity to chat to year 11, sharing about what we would have one differently when stepping into year 11 and 12. This consisted of advice and personal experiences. Year 10 camp allowed Grace and Zach the opportunity to present their testimonies, aiming to share their personal experiences, and hopefully inspire year 10. Becky and Tommy were given the opportunity to chat to Year 9 about their personal experience in coming to Christ through a relatable talk. They were also given the opportunity to engage in the activities whilst building relationships with the students in year 9. Year 8 camp also allowed Benita and Orlando to share their testimony, stimulating the minds of the Year 8 students. Year 7 camp presented Catherine and Phillip with a space to share about unity through an engaging talk with the grade. As an SLC we are grateful to be able to give students insights into our own experience, as people who have been through what they are going through, and to be given the opportunity to build relationships with the grades we are leading!

Another big event that is going to take place in our school soon is the musical! Our students are working exceptionally hard to create an amazing experience for everyone and we are so thankful for the gifts that God has given all of them! Tickets are on sale now! It’s something you don’t want to miss.

As the term continues and students are preparing for exams and assessments, we pray that God places his hand over them and that they are able to use their knowledge to the best of their ability. Regardless of any results, God loves each of us, and we can stand firm knowing that we are made in his image, and that our marks do not define who we are in him!

We are praying for a smooth finish to the term!

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
