We are finally in Term 4, and it definitely feels like we need a holiday soon! The final weeks of this year are coming with business for some and relaxing for others, but we are sure that everyone will appreciate a break soon. This term is full of exciting days and events as we celebrate the Year 12 Graduation, while Year 6 is just getting ready to enter High School.
Congratulations to the Years 7-10 students that have endured the exam season and come out the other side; we hope that the exams went well and as you receive the final marks, that you remember these marks will not define you. This year has been one of the craziest, so everyone deserves a pat on the back for enduring it. Now in the last weeks, where most feel like it doesn’t matter, we want to remind you to be patient with your teachers and classmates and finish off the year well.
The stress of the HSC is finally over, hats off to the Year 12s! Having to do the HSC during COVID and all the other interruptions is a great achievement and they should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished. Hopefully now over these next couple weeks they can relax and mentally prepare for the next step of their journey. We wish them all the best in the future years to come and that the path they are taking will lead them to the best outcome. Please continue to keep the Year 12s in your prayers.
Year 6 are getting ready for High School and this is a very exciting time, especially for new students who are joining our school in Year 7, so let’s pray that it all goes well. High School comes with a lot of changes, but programs such as Peer Support will help the new Year 7s to feel more comfortable. Year 10 will participate in Peer Support training at the end of the term, in which they will learn to lead younger students, especially the new Year 7s, as well as skills which can be taken into all aspects of school life.
The Year 10 ‘informal’ is coming up, an exciting time of year. Even though it is running a little differently this year compared to previous years. It is still something that many look forward to and this year the theme is a Day at the Races, which puts a refreshing spin on a typically formal event. We hope that Year 10 will enjoy the day and it will be a nice finishing touch as Year 10 comes to an end and senior school begins. Please pray that the day goes to plan and will run smoothly so that the Year 10s have a great experience.
Let’s end this message with a promise from the word of God:
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Let this passage remind us to not lose focus at the end, but continue to endure the last hurdles before the holidays come. To the new Year 12s, we especially want to remind you that God has a plan for your lives, and we should focus ahead to the future promise that God has given to us of life with His son Jesus.
On behalf of the SLC, we hope that you enjoy the last weeks of this year!
