SLC Update

Just like that, we are already seven weeks into Term 1!

Firstly, we would like to welcome any new members of our school community and we pray that the transition has been as smooth as possible. Many exciting events have already taken place this term and there will be many more opportunities to look forward to. Our vision for this year as an SLC is to see our school peers thrive in their academics, relationships with others, wellbeing, and grow in their relationship with Christ. In light of this, we hope to make future advancements and developments.

Did you know that students can now contact the SLC directly via email?

We are excited to announce a new initiative in which students are able to contact the council directly via email. Students can confidentially email their year group representatives with proposals and thoughts about issues they would like addressed. The purpose of the direct emailing system is to allow student to student interaction between the SLC and student body, and provide the opportunity for SLC members to be contacted more easily and effectively. Students can contact the SLC members at any time by simply emailing:

In Week 4, our Senior Music students had the opportunity to travel to the Sydney Opera House to attend the night session of Encore. This event showcased some of the most outstanding Music HSC performances from students all over NSW, from the graduating class of 2018. The students who went to this night experienced an amazing display of musical talent across a wide range of genres and performance styles, with solo works and ensemble performances. There was something for everyone, and it was a very interesting and enjoyable night for all who attended.

Also in Week 4, our Year 7 students had the opportunity to go on a Crusaders Camp at Galston Gorge. While there, they had the opportunity to participate in a range of fun and challenging activities such as archery and BMX riding. They had time to engage with Crusader leaders in discussion groups where they looked at the Bible together. Their SLC representatives also visited them, and spoke to and encouraged them about both the academic and social aspects of starting High School.

The SLC have been working hard with the school’s eSmart committee, as part of ensuring our school continues to grow as an eSmart community. In Week 6, the SLC worked with their respective grades to present Bullying? No Way! Day where they discussed the importance of Internet safety, respectful online behaviour, and the negative impacts of cyberbullying.

To wrap up, we would like to leave you with a passage from Colossians to encourage you as you go about this week;

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

– Colossians 3:15-17

Yours truly,
