As we draw near to the end of Term 3 in this extraordinary year, we realise we have much for which to thank God. We want to begin this article by honouring and saying a huge thank you on the school’s behalf to our outgoing Year 12 SLC members. We have been so blessed to have worked alongside them over the past 12 months and are grateful for the many ways they have led and served our school community. We’re sure we echo the sentiments of all staff and students at William Carey when we say we wish them all the very best for their HSC. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for them in the future.
As the newly elected school captains, we are very mindful of the massive shoes we are stepping into. We would like to say a personal thank you to our outgoing captains, Matty and Helena, for the wonderful examples they have been to us and for their encouragement of us as we step into the role of captains next term.
We are excited to announce the newly elected SLC who will take up their roles from the beginning of next term. Below you will see who the new SLC members are and the 2021 year groups they will be serving from the beginning of Term 4 this year.
|Year 12||Stephanie Ross and Isaac Perez|
|Year 11||Abigail Winder and Ricky Huynh|
|Year 10||Grace Naduvilath and Zach Bent|
|Year 9||Becky Kelly and Tommy Stanton|
|Year 8||Benita Sajan and Orlando Kameya|
|Year 7||Catherine Nguyen and Philip Naduvilath|
We are all very much looking forward to getting to know our year groups and working out ways we can serve you well over the coming year.
Please join us in praying for our Year 12s as they finish their final term at school and head towards their HSC exams. We want to thank Year 12 for all they have contributed to our school over the last 13 years. We will miss you!
Psalm 46 is a great psalm that reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength – an ever-present help in trouble” (verse 1). It is a comforting thing to know that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we can have peace in knowing God has a plan for our lives, He holds His people in the palm of His hand and we will never be snatched away from Him. Our prayer for all people in our school community – and especially for our Year 12s as they head out into the big wide world – is that we would all know the peace and joy God offers us through a relationship with Jesus.
Yours in His service,
Stephanie Ross and Isaac Perez
