We’re over halfway through the term with less than 2 weeks of school left for the year! The school community still have a few more fun events that all the students can attend, where they can enjoy themselves with friends before school ends and the holidays begin!

The National Young Leaders day and the MISA Leadership Day were held in week 4, where the members of the SLC learned about how to be the best leaders for the school community. The students had the opportunity to interact and socialise with representatives from other schools and learn about several fun and entertaining activities from each other, providing ideas that the SLC and Senior Executive members can incorporate for the students at William Carey.

Keep your eyes peeled for some colourful new additions to the G block quad this term. Upon the proposal of a past student, the Creative Arts department has begun to pull together an exciting mural which will soon decorate G block quad, bringing some colour and life! A group of past students recently reunited to paint the mural that will brighten up many a dull day with it’s uplifting colours and encouragement. So be on the look out for the exciting new mural!

For the Year 10 students of our school, this term is the final chapter of their junior high years. As many of them face difficult decisions about what subjects to choose and which future careers they think they might choose, we can be praying for them to have wisdom. However, a little extra help was planned in the form of a Junior to Senior School Transition Event. This week, a group of senior students have been selected to represent each faculty. The Year 10 students have selected which departments they wanted to hear about, and heard the senior students speak briefly about what senior school is like in their faculty. This hopefully has given a deeper, more specific insight into what each subject is really like.

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. This verse tells us that God fits everything together in our life perfectly, knowing that His plan ultimately will bring those who love Him, to Him; and this means everything little thing that happens, happens according to God’s plan- including when you feel alone and upset, and when you feel like the world is at your fingertips, when school and work are just swell, even when you couldn’t think of a more painful thing than going to school, when people respect you for your faith, and when they make fun of you. In each of these moments, God is watching you and whispering to you “Don’t worry, this is all part of the plan,”.  And yet notice that all these things work together only when we love God (for those who love God) and when we purposely pursue His teachings (who are called according to His purpose). So, if we attempt to achieve these two things, we can rest assured that God has got us covered; what an awesome idea!
