William Carey Christian School Board News

On April 3rd, the School’s Association held its Annual General Meeting. As well as discussing the business of the School, this meeting was a time of celebration and thanks to God for the work of Mr George Lytton in the support and growth of William Carey Christian School.

George Lytton became an association member on 29th July, 1985. Over the more than 30 years since, George has served as a Director continuously from 1990 to 2017, except for one year in 1996.

He also served as President for a total of 18 years (1992 – 1996, 1997-98, 1999 – 2003, 2004 – 2010, 2011 – 2014) and as Vice-President from 2014 to 2016.

In these roles, George led and participated in the establishment of William Carey at our current site in 1988 and the establishment of a High School. From 1985, William Carey Christian School has grown from 36 students in two Primary classes with two staff, to currently being a P-12 school with over 1300 students and 150 staff.

The Association also recognised George’s wife, Marion Lytton, for her ongoing support of the School over many years. All four of George and Marion’s children were students at William Carey.

We thank God for the work He has done in our School and in raising people with a vision for the Gospel and education in South West Sydney. We also give thanks for those, like George and his family, who have served God at the School so faithfully over so many years.

The School’s Association always welcomes members of the community who have a passion for the proclamation of the Gospel and excellent Christian education in South West Sydney. If you would like to find out more about Association membership, please contact Mrs Dawn Smith, who is our Head Librarian.
